Tickets to the mending with sashiko class at Långbro gård, 24-25 January 2026

SEK 2,500.00

The class
The Japanese art of sashiko is admired and appreciated all over the world and it has come to be a favorite among visual menders. I wrote a book in the subject together with co-author Takao Momiyama in 2024, and in this class I will show you the best tips and tricks from the book. You will learn several different local variations of sashiko as well as skills for mending different kinds of wear and tear on your favorite clothes.

Day one: We start out with a fika and a lecture on what sashiko is, it’s history and it’s place in the world today. You will be introduced to three different sashiko techniques as well as learn about what’s important to know when mending garments. You choose a technique and start stitching, exploring how you want to relate to the tradition: Do you want to follow it meticulously or do you want to make a free interpretation? It’s up to you!

Day two: What was that advanced sasiko technique you were talking about? How do I mend this special little thing? Lounge in a couch in the red salon and stitch slowly, sip coffee, take a walk, enjoy the day. I will help you along in your projects throughout the day and we will enjoy lovely and calm day together.

The class is suitable for both people with no previous experience of textile work and those of you who are more experienced. All materials are included in the class, and no extra fees are added. Please bring any garments you want to mend, though! And some cloth of the same fiber composition and thickness. (Need help determining that? A clerk in a fabric store should be able to help you!)

The class will be taught in Swedish. If you’re not fluent, send me a message and we’ll see if we can work around it.

Well, why is the description in English then? - Yeah it seems kinda weird as the people considering to take the class will be Swedish speakers… But the rest of my website in in English and it just felt too weird to mix languages.

Bring, if you have it:
Scissors for fabric
Reading glasses
Pencil + notepad
A steam iron is always good, if you’re arriving by car. No need to carry one on the train!

The venue
Långbro gård is situated outside Gnesta and is within a walking distance of the Mölnbo commuter train station. It is an old big farm with a manor house that is run as a bed and breakfast today, and that boasts of it’s own bakery! It is a very pittoresque location and the class will take place in one of the salons at the manor. You can also choose to stay overnight at the manor and make a cozy craft weekend out of it!

If you want to book a room for the carve + weave weekend you can get a discount with the code SLOJDA2025, which will take 10% off your booking!

Date: February 24-25 January, 2026
Time: 10-17

Place: Långbro gård, Mölnbo

A vegetarian lunch and fika is included in the price of the class.
