This is a distaff, a type of textile tool intended for winding your wool around when you spin yarn. It measures 51 × 4,4 cm. It is made of cherry wood from a piece I was gifted by my neighbor and I have also treated it with a thin coat of linseed oil to bring out the lovely texture of the wood.
The distaff is signed with my name glyph at the bottom of the handle, and it has a hole at the top where you can fasten a band that’s used to keep the wool in place while spinning if you want to.
There are three distaffs in this lot and they are very nearly identical, so I’m making one post wish a stock of three items. The price is specified for one distaff.
