Blue starry carving knife

These knives have handles that are painted blue with linseed oil paint, and there are stars cut out of the surface of the paint. All knives have 5 stars on the handles, places with the idea that you should always be able to see at least two. The knives have been re-ground to give them a hollow bevel, which makes them easier to hone once you’re ready for a touch up. They come with a handmade birch bark sheath, also made by me.

This is the knife I use for most of my carving and a real classic in the craft community. The Morakniv 120 has a rather short blade which makes it easy to control when carving tiny things. If you are only going to get one carving knife and want to make a heddle I’d recommend this one!

This version of the Morakniv is made in Sweden out of laminate steel and it is very, very sharp. If you are a newbie at carving I advice you to be careful and take your time to explore the possibilities of the knife by just chipping away at a piece of scrap wood before you start on a “real“ project.
