Tips and tricks for using my drop spindles
Lat month I started selling these drop spindles, made by a local fellow woodworking craftsman named Oscar Larsson. I brought a spindle my grandfather has made to him and asked if he could make a big bunch of similar ones for me, and he did! The result is a spindle of local birch wood, made with a cut out head rather than with a hook as is most commonly seen on wooden spindles. The spindles come disassembled when you order them and you put them together yourself, with the option to take the whorl (round disk) off any time you choose. As I got a couple of questions about how that’s done so I thought I’d make a video of myself using the spindle!
If you want a spindle of your own they are available in my webshop, linked here!
If you are looking for step by step instructions on the basics of yarn spinning I have written about that in my book “Slöjd - The Swedish art of wood and textile handicrafts” which is also available in Swedish with the name “Vardagsslöjd“. Both can be found for sale in my webshop!
